we (a group of 6 students from austria) are planning to travel in the kazbegi region for winter alpinism activities (ski touring) next week.
We were very happy to find your homepage, which gives us an idea of accomodation opportunities in the region. Unfortunaltely there are no price ranges mantioned on your site. So could you give us a rare idea (as a basis for bargaining) of a low cost /little comfort accomodation including showers and food.
Another question is wether there is an internet opportunity in Kazbegi, or where can we get a reliable weather forecast?

I’m answering your e-mail from Estonia: as there is no internet in Kazbegi, the web-page Kazbegi.info is maintained from abroad right now. It will hopefully change from this autumn.

The normal price for accommodation + food in Kazbegi is about 30 lari per person per night (food included), but you will find both cheaper and more expensive options.

For weather forecast you should ask your landlord / landlady: they usually know somebody who has reliable information. They can make a
round of phonecalls and find it out. There is no weather forecast page in the internet or anything similar (at least I don’t know about any).

Hi, there is also new hostel close to main square of Kazbegi called “Mountain house” – price of accomodation is 10 lari (included hot water ofcourse). There are also tourist informations, you can buy there good maps, rent a mountainbike or outdoor equiplment. You can write for reservation on roman.stanek@peopleinneed.cz and web-pages are www.mountainhouse.ge – The “Mountain house” is non-governmental organisation supported by Polish Aid and People in Need Czech republic. This organisations also realised a community development projects there.
