Topic: General Questions / room reservation + how to get there Hello, Thank you for creating that excellent website! I would like to travel to Kazbegi this summer (late July/ early August). *Do you think, it is recommendable to reserve a room in one of the homestays beforehand (if you are travelling with two people)? *As you don’t have any prices on your website: Do then ask (negotiate?) the price of the homestay (on the phone)? Maybe someone who’s already been in one of the homestays could tell me how it worked. *As far as I understood what it says on the website, the best (and cheapest) way to get to Kazbegi from Tbilisi is taking a marshrutka, but if you want to get a homestay in Jutta or Gergeti, is it usual that people pick you up from Kazbegi (I assume there is no public transport to any of those places)? |

Topic: Sights and Walks / Truso Valley, glaciers and churches... Hi, Hiking in the Kazbegi region: I found 3 interesting proposals for hikes on your website: one to Truso Valley, one to the Gergeti Glacier and on to the Tsminda Sambeda Church. Firstly, the (Upper) Truso Valley: As far as I understood what it said on the website, you can hire a car to drive there. Where is it possible to do this? In Kazbegi? If you speak some Russian, is it more or less safe now to go there? Is it best to ask the locals, if it’s safe or not? Secondly: Gergi Glacier. You are saying that it’s about a 10 k walk to get there. Is that from Kazbegi? How long would that take? Is it possible to get regional maps from the area in Kazbegi/ Tbilisi? regards, |
