Topic: Sights and Walks / Darial Gorge Camping Hi, darial gorge is closed for tourist around 5 km of the border with Russia. On the area where tourists can go you can visit Geleti waterfall and Devdoraki glacier. The area is safe and you do not need passport. You can camp wherever you want. Best wishes, Roman |

Topic: Sights and Walks / Truso Valley, glaciers and churches... Hallo, we have a good maps of area in the “Mountain house” close to main-square. If you dont wanna pay for car you can rent a mountain-bike. It is 20 lari per day. About security: I never heared about any problems except if you will go close to borders of South Osetia on the west you may meet they guerrila fighters guarding the borders but as I heared they do not attack on tourists. Last year they attacked only georgian soldiers but never killed anybody. But border is really far – at least two days walk on the west. Other places are safe and no problems there. |

Topic: Accommodation / Accommodation + food prices Hi, there is also new hostel close to main square of Kazbegi called “Mountain house” – price of accomodation is 10 lari (included hot water ofcourse). There are also tourist informations, you can buy there good maps, rent a mountainbike or outdoor equiplment. You can write for reservation on roman.stanek@peopleinneed.cz and web-pages are www.mountainhouse.ge – The “Mountain house” is non-governmental organisation supported by Polish Aid and People in Need Czech republic. This organisations also realised a community development projects there. |
